MediaTek unveiled its MT7915 chipset at CES 2020, combining Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5 technologies. This chipset is designed for high-performance access point routers, repeaters, and mesh network devices. The MT7915 series (MT7915a/d) is available for various applications, including domestic, commercial, and business use. It is already open for product development, with the first devices expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2020.
The MediaTek MT7915 is the world's first single-chip solution that integrates Wi-Fi 6 Wave 1+ and Bluetooth 5. It incorporates a dedicated RF receiver and "zero wait DFS channel monitoring," which enables faster, more reliable, and user-friendly connections. Noteworthy patented features include MediaTek's ESR technology, which optimizes wireless network efficiency and capacity, and an improved internal FEM (Front-End Module) that boosts efficiency by 60%. The MT7915 provides superior UL coverage and outperforms its competitors in peak performance.
While some of the optional functions of Wi-Fi 6 Wave 1+ are not supported by other competitors, the MediaTek MT7915 includes all these functions, such as 1024QAM, UL/DL MU-MIMO user#, spatial reuse, and long-range DCM. The MT7915 features a dual-band architecture with options for either a 4x4 (MT7915A) or 2x2 (MT7915D) antenna configuration.
Furthermore, MediaTek continues to lead in the deployment of Wi-Fi Alliance EasyMeshTM certified products. The EasyMesh standard ensures product interoperability and enables the creation of expandable Wi-Fi networks to meet various deployment requirements.
